By making a booking with Powderama, you are accepting the terms of this agreement. If you are booking on behalf of others you will also be taking on responsibility that the other members of your group have read and agreed to these booking conditions.
Powderama uses the services of instructors qualified through their governing body in their country of residence or the country in which they provide their service. Their membership through their professional organisation includes insurance to provide the services they have been qualified to deliver. They are not employees of Powderama. Should you be involved in any dispute involving an instructor where the dispute involves insurance then this will be direct with the organisation that provides their insurance, not Powderama. In these booking conditions all mention of instructors are those that are working on behalf of Powderama, and not Powderama employees.
Payment and confirmation
A 50% deposit is required to reserve your lesson. An invoice will be sent to you by email which will need to be paid by bank transfer, credit card or cheque for your lesson(s) to be confirmed. If details on the invoice are incorrect please tell us immediately so that we can make the appropriate changes. The balance for the lesson can be paid for either by the same process as the deposit or by cash before the start of the lesson (this must be agreed in advance). If the lesson is within two weeks of the time of booking, the full balance is payable immediately.
Once booked, the price is guaranteed.
If we cancel your booking
Powderama expects that clients will be adequately fit enough for the lessons to be undertaken. We reserve the right to refuse to continue skiing with customers if the lack of fitness compromises safety. No refund will be made to clients excluded on these safety grounds.
Lift closures are beyond our control – although we will endeavour to run the session somewhere in the Chamonix Valley. In the case of lift closures, no refund will be given. This is an issue between yourselves, the clients, and your insurance company. A letter can be supplied, on demand, detailing the issues incurred.
Cancellation Charges for Private ski lessons: If you want to cancel all or part of your booking we require notification by email.
Prior to 8 weeks before the lesson: Full refund
Between 4 and 8 weeks before the lesson: Loss of deposit.
Within 1 – 4 weeks: Loss of 50%
Within 0 – 1 week: Loss of 100%
We will not accept responsibility for any additional costs incurred.
Lesson no-shows, or drop-out due to ill health or injury are non-refundable. We will, on demand, provide a letter for insurance purposes.
In the event of Powderama being unable to deliver the course as promised in the booking conditions we will refund on a pro rata basis any time missed or transfer missed time to a future course if preferred and space is available.
Skiing involves an element of risk which you must accept as inherent to the sport. You must take responsibility over your own actions and decisions when skiing on the mountain either by yourself or within an Powderama group. By booking with Powderama you will be accepting the risk involved. You will also be responsible for accepting whether to take part in any activity at a particular time. Powderama (and the instructors working on behalf of Powderama) cannot be held responsible for accidents. If you feel that you would rather opt out any part of the time with Powderama, please let the instructor know.
If the majority of the group wish to take a planned ski route or itinerary and you choose not to, you of course can opt out of this particular route as there will always be an alternative. There will be no refund if you choose this option. Routes often have to be amended whilst on the move due to snow conditions and safety. On occasions routes may have to be amended that involve an element of walking.
If it is felt by the instructor that you are behaving in a manner that causes disruption within the group, endangers yourself, other members of the group or public, the instructor or will ask you to adjust your skiing. Failure to do so could result in being asked to leave the course. In this situation no refunds will be given.
FIS Skiers Code of Conduct
Skiing is a dangerous pastime and we find that many skiers do not adhere to the skiers version of the Highway code’. It is strongly suggested that you read this: Ski Way Code
All clients skiing with Powderama must be adequately insured for the activity being undertaken. Rescue by helicopter can prove to be very expensive and we recommend that you are adequately covered by a comprehensive winter sports insurance policy of which there are many on the market. If off-piste skiing is intended, please ensure you have a policy that allows this. It is also advised that you ski with your insurance details on your person to avoid confusion if it is necessary to use it.
On Snow Course Cancellation due to Extreme Weather
Powderama cannot give refunds for any on-snow time missed due to lift closure. This is beyond our control. Check your insurance policy as it may cover you for lift closure.
Confirmation of your meeting place.
Powderama will get in touch with you the evening before at around 7pm on the telephone number you supplied during the booking process. Please be patient with this as it is due to the layout of the skiing areas in the Chamonix Valley. Every effort will be made to meet your aims as to where to ski – but sometimes this will not be possible. Refunds cannot be given should we have to take the lesson in one of the other ski areas of Chamonix to your choice.
You, the client are responsible for:
On courses that involve off piste skiing, safety equipment must be carried. This involves wearing a transceiver properly, also carrying a probe and shovel in a backpack. If you are intending to ski off-piste and you do not have this equipment its hire can be arranged. Helmets are optional, although advised.
Any contract between the client and Powderama shall be governed in all respects by English Law. Only English Courts shall have jurisdiction in relation to any claim or dispute arising out of or connected with any such contract.
