Winter’s On. Snow’s due this week

Start looking for flights to come to Chamonix. Finally some snow’s in the forecast. There’s over 25 cms due before the weekend’s out.

Don’t forget to book your ski lessons 😉

A dry Halloween in Chamonix

Not that Halloween has anything to do with it, but for the foreseeable future, no snow is due in Chamonix. Elsewhere in the Alps, though, skiing up high on the glaciers is good (apparently).
If you want to keep up to date with the weather, use these two sites or Chamonix Meteo. There are others but you’ll get trapped into being a weather forecaster. Pictures are easier to understand!

Chamonix Lift Opening Times

The lift dates have been out for a while, no great news. It’s always good to be reminded though!! Note that Les Houches doesn’t open before the school holidays!

Knee trouble and the all clear to ski

Last season ended with a few worries of continuing knee pain. With x-rays and IRM (MRI) done, I got the all-clear to do sport and more importantly to ski again. One of the big worries was the knee cap. No problem, I was given the all clear, even saying for my age, let alone my profession, they were in great shape. The prognosis was a deficiency of strength in muscles in one side of the knee causing pulling of the knee cap. All’s good now though!

New site, and the start of something new

So, a new website. Miles better eh?!

After 5 years of the old site, I’ve gone for a new refreshed look and somewhat less cluttered site. Courses are off the menu now as time is needed at home dealing with the family as they grow older. To the something new, telemarking is on – for something different. Not too many people offer ‘tele’ lessons in the Chamonix valley, let alone by a Brit. Honestly, give it a try, the similarity of alpine skiing and tele-ing is amazingly close.

Hopefully we’ve seen the back of the dry spell and the weather patterns are going to start to improve piste conditions, let alone the off-piste. February’s on its way, get booking!
